The things us women have to go through..

The things us women have to go through..

In the wee small hours while welcoming guests in the Hotel, l moved suddenly and had a sharp piercing pain in my chest, l felt the colour drain from my face as l stood there clutching my left breast..

The next few seconds of awkward silence that followed was broken by the gentleman asking if l was ok, i thought you were having a heart attack..

his wife being a woman of the world smiled and replied "l think you'll find my dear that the stabbing pain was her underwire not her heart... we did chuckle...

it's the simple things that make you smile...

.....like an impromptu visit to St Margarets Bay, which is a little village near Dover where l live,

when l finished work at 7 this morning, to stand on a door step with chocolate cake and cards in hands sing two verses of "Happy birthday to you" rather loudly l have to say .. before they finally open the door... shaking their head, and looking at the watch,   but with a massive smile on their face.... Happy 85th Birthday Uncle George ... your face was a picture... lots of hugs and kisses, then back home for some sleep ...

Until next time my lovelies

A Mothers Advice Never Forgotten....

Always be Yourself

Always, always be true to yourself. You shouldn’t ever feel the need to impress others by being something you’re not. YOU are enough, and if they don’t agree, it’s time for THEM to go.

 Never forget your Past
It makes us who we are at this exact moment. The past teaches us what we want, what we don’t want, and who we want to be. Every day is a new day to start all over again.

 Always be Honest
They always say “Honesty is the best policy.” And I couldn’t agree more. Though sometimes the truth may hurt, at the end of the day, being honest will make you feel better.

Even as a child l listened to her beautiful voice

 Follow your Dreams
Always follow you heart and never, ever let anybody belittle your dreams and ambitions.

 Never be Ashamed to Cry
No matter what it’s for. We can all use a good cry sometimes.

 Never Apologise for being Funny
This world needs more funny people. It’s too damn serious sometimes and I truly believe that laughter has the ability to heal.

 Demand Respect
If you don’t demand it, you simply will never get it. People treat you the way you allow yourself to be treated and the way you treat yourself.

Until next time my Lovelies,

Premier Inn Panda....

As many of you know l work as a night receptionist at the Dover East Premier Inn  and guest do have a habit of leaving things in the rooms... one morning last week we received a call from a family that had left an hour or so previously, but were now on the cross channel ferry heading for a two week holiday in France... they had a rather distraught child with them who had forgotten Panda...

Don't worry my manager said we'll find him and look after him.. and so she did and he was placed up on the shelf at the back of the reception to wait for the return of his beloved family...

The next night when l was working he kept cathing my eye, and he looked so sad.. so well l brought him down and sat him on the desk... then l had one of those quirky light bulb moments...

So over the course of the night Panda was place in various positions around the hotel doing different things..

To go along with the photography l decided to write a little book... calling it

Panda's Holiday in Dover

I was given permisson to take him home just for a few hours with a promise that l would guard him with my life...

So off Panda and l went to the beach..

and lastly l let him share my strawberries with a friend...

So by the time the family comes back next week.. l will have written the book of Panda's adventures in Dover, developed the photos and put it all together..

So they can see Panda has had fun too....

and to all my work colleagues, yes it's been confirmed that Louise really is quirky...

Until next time my Lovelies

Take care

A Perfect Weekend Summers Day & Evening

Finishing a nightshift on a winters morning is lovely because just as everyone is getting up to face the wind, rain and bitter tempretures, you smile to yourself as you curl up in your nice csy bed and drift of to sleep...

However coming off of nightshift to a beautiful day, blue sky, sun blazing and not a breeze about... is not really that great, while the world sun's itself, indulges in vast amounts of ice cream and beach selfies... you have to shut the sun out with the black out curtains... put the fan on lay there with no covers and sizzle yourself to sleep..

On these such days being now l have a plan to make the most of the sun..

Breakfast on the patio

A few hours sleep....

then lay in the sun on my grandma's blanket with a good book and floppy hat... maybe have a doze..

Then the evening is free for wine as the sun goes down....

and yes l seem to have a cherry additcion..

Enjoy the sunshine my Lovelies

Until Next time...

A Summer Wedding in the Family

The date we all had had in our dairies for over a year was upon us, 18th July 2015, the family wedding of the year, between my partners nephew Craig and the lovely Salome.

The venue for this special occasion was Fathingloe Farm Barn

The stunning 16th century Thatched Barn is set in 48 acres of private estate. A private driveway extending for more than quarter of a mile will lead you to open valley countryside set in the heart of Kent between Dover and Folkestone on The Old Folkestone Road.

The sun was shining,  just a perfect clear blue sky above and not a breeze was to be felt.  we all arrived in our finery to discover an outside seating area full of bunting, hand made wooden sign's and  hazel twig hearts hanging from the tree's... a gorgeous setting for any Bride and Groom to say their vows in front of their loved ones and friends..

Handmade Touches

I had brought my camera, l'm the sort of photographer who takes those one off shots the quirky ones,  the ones when no one is looking and l love them...

Looking around the seated guests there was a colourful array of glorious hat, fabulous fasinators, bow ties and braces, everyone had turned out in their Sunday best for this delightful couple.

The Bride was traditionally  late ( in her defence the local area was trying to cope with Operation Stack at the time).. The Groom looked to the steps nervously waiting for the signal that the love of his life was about to appear oh and she did it in such a way that made us all smile and gasp... in an old fashioned Fire engine ( quick in sight in to the couple Craig is a fire fighter for the London Fire Brigade.. hence the fire engine)
Salome was essorted in by beautiful brides maids and her dashing father looking very proud to have his daughter on his arm

 That perfect moment in time

The smile on both their faces when they set eyes on each other showed the true love and affection that Craig and Salome  both share for each other..

Tears of Joy

The ceremony that followed was a very personal one and there was not many a dry eye in the house..
We were sat behind the two Mother's and as l glanced down l saw a most symbolic sight, the two women were holding hands watching the darling children making a memory.. l captured the moment on camera and l'm so pleased to say that every who has seen the photograph has loved it and can understand why l took it...

Such a symbolic photo, I felt very honoured to have witnessed such an amazing moment.

After the cermony we retired to the beautiful gardens for refreshments and a mingle, you can't beat a mingle at a wedding, there were hand made games for the children to play and a box of Swishy sticks, have a swish and make a wish, well it would of been rude not to, and yes l still have my swish stick at home

Swish and Wish

The reception inside the barn was gorgoeus and Salome had made all the wonderful decorations, very creative and clever young lady... the food was scummy and it all had a wonderful laid back feel, relaxed and very calming ..

When talking about the menu how can we not mention  the scrumptious cake that was made by the Groom's own fair hands..

Scrumptious

The evening reception was a mixture of giggles, dancing, silly selfies, and so many smiles all round.
and the Bride got to crowd surf, priceless moment.....

I have posted some of the photo's that l took that day,

and to The Bride and Groom Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your Special day, l wouldn't have missed it for the world....

Hold on tight we are making a memory

A Trip down Memory Lane.....

Tankerton Slopes Whitstable Kent

For the last few years l have been eager to return to this place,  a place where as a child we would play for hours while on our fortnights holiday with my Grandma...even though really it's not too far away from where l live l never seemed to get around to it.

So when my darling Mum became terminally ill it was her wish to go back there, sadly we never got the chance so l knew this was something l wanted to do in my 50th year,
So a couple of weekends ago Mr Happy and l went off there for the afternoon.. even pulling on to the seafromnt l had butterflies in my stomach..  when l saw the Cannon's my eyes filled with tears... and it really took my breathe away seeing them and being there...

All the memories came flooding back, having lost my Mum not so long ago  the pain and grief is still very raw ... oh how wished we could of had one more photograph together here ....
